Lions blow out Clarke Central, battle of unbeatens next

The Lady Lions travelled to Athens tonight and crushed host Clarke Central 89-42 in the Andy Landers Classic Thanksgiving tournament. The game was close for half a quarter with Hebron holding a 10-8 lead. The Lions closed the first quarter with a 12-0 run taking a 22-8 lead at the end of one. Clarke Central, who competes in Region 8-AAAAA, kept it close as Hebron won the second quarter 24-18 taking a 46-26 lead into halftime. Hebron’s defense clamped down in the second half however. After allowing the Gladiators 18 points in the second quarter, Hebron only allowed Clarke Central 16 points in the entire second half and cruised to a 47-point win. Malia Fisher pumped in another double-double performance leading the team in scoring with 26 points and rebounds with 17. She also had five steals, three assists and three blocked shots in another strong all around game for her. Nicole Azar also had a solid outing with 22 points, a game high eight assists, four steals and three rebounds. Ella Heard had her best game of the year scoring 18 points including connecting on five three-pointers, to go with two steals. Jessie Parish had her best game of the young season as well scoring 16 points to go with eight boards, four assists, four steals and two blocks. Carly Heidger added five points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals while court general Carly Fahey chipped in five assists, two points, two boards and two steals. With the win, Hebron improves to 5-0. They will next face unbeaten North Oconee (5-0), a 58-30 winner over Banneker earlier today. Tipoff is 4:00 PM tomorrow at Clarke Central.
