The Atlanta Journal-Constitution released its end of season awards this week and the undefeated state champion Hebron Lions were again well represented. The AJC All State teams are compiled and produced by the newspaper’s sportswriters who cover high school basketball throughout the state. Hebron Sophomore Aubrey Beckham earned Class AAA Player of the Year honors. Beckham was also named First Team All State after earning Honorable Mention last year as a freshman. Sophomore Kerra Butler earned Second Team All State while junior Amiya Porter was named Honorable Mention, the first such award for both. Coach Jan Azar was the AJC’s choice for AAA Coach of the Year, her 15th occasion of earning coach of the year for her team’s classification. The AJC also released its All Metro Atlanta Teams of the Year with Beckham and Butler each earning All Gwinnett County honors.
