Ten Lions hit the scoring column in a big 88-8 region win over Stephens County Tuesday night in Toccoa. And the scoring was balanced led by Aubrey Beckham’s 14 points. She also had six assists in about two quarters of play. Mia James scored 11 points and also dished six assists while Kerra Butler had 10 points eight rebounds. Amiya Porter and Nicky Daniel put up nine points apiece while Porter also had three assists. Camryn Register and Jayden Watts each scored eight points while Alanna Beckham chipped in seven. Trinity Butler and Lily Macrina rounded out the Hebron scoring effort with five and three points respectively. Hebron improves to 19-0, 5-0 in region action with the win. The Lions will next face Oconee County in another region matchup. Tipoff is 7:00 PM Friday at Hebron.

Hebron and Pebblebrook squared off Saturday afternoon in Game 1 of the Georgia Nike Elite Showcase hosted by Pace Academy, located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. The Lions handed Pebblebrook a 76-47 loss, by far their largest margin of defeat this season. The Falcons’ previous largest margin of defeat was 13 points, a 46-33 loss to Class AAAAAAA No. 10 ranked McEachern on December 6. Hebron started off a little slow leading only 16-10 at the end of the first quarter, perhaps a hangover from having a 7:00 game last night in Franklin County. The second quarter was identical to the first as Hebron outscored Pebblebrook 16-10 taking a 32-20 lead at the half. Hebron went on a 16-7 run upping its lead to 48-27 with 2:27 left in the third quarter, behind four three-pointers. The Falcons, out of Region 2-AAAAAAA, were running out of gas and time as Hebron coasted the rest of the way as they outscored Pebblebrook 44-27 in the second half. Four Lions scored in double digits led by junior Amiya Porter and sophomore Aubrey Beckham who scored 19 points apiece. Porter also had five rebounds, two steals and two assists while Beckham had four assists, three boards, one steal and one block. Kerra Butler recorded another double double putting up 11 points and 12 boards while also blocking three shots. Nicky Daniel added 10 points for the Lions while Camryn Register had nine points. Mia James chipped in six points, a game high six assists and four steals. Hebron returns to region action on Tuesday as they travel to Toccoa to take on Stephens County. Tipoff is 6:00 PM.

The Hebron girls made the hour trek up I-85 to take on Franklin County in a region contest Friday night in a battle of Lions. The Hebron Lions easily handled the Franklin County Lions posting a 79-30 win. Hebron led 28-12 at the end of the first quarter and 53-17 at halftime. Hebron outscored Franklin 26-13 in the second half to secure the win. Lots of Hebron players scored tonight led by Aubrey Beckham as she dropped 18 points, all in the first half. Kerra Butler scored 13 points and had six rebounds. Camryn Register had 10 points while Amiya Porter scored nine points and had seven assists. Mia James had nine points and four assists as Nicky Daniel put up eight points. Jayden Watts and Alanna Beckham added five points apiece. Watts also pulled down five rebounds while Beckham had five boards and four steals. With the win, Hebron ups its record to 17-0, 4-0 in Region 8-AAA play. Hebron will next face Pebblebrook tomorrow in an non-region contest. Tipoff is 1:30 PM at Pace Academy.

Tuesday night, Monroe Area paid its first visit to Lions Arena since Hebron moved to Region 8-AAA, and was handed a 91-37 loss in front of another large crowd. The Purple Hurricanes travelled well as a large contingent of visiting fans were in attendance in addition to the big Hebron crowd. Unfortunately for the visitors, they experienced a hurricane of their own as the Hebron defense swirled around them like at CAT 5. The Lions scored the first 26 points of the game, largely from turnovers caused by their press. Hebron led 66-13 at halftime. The entire Hebron roster saw playing time tonight as the offense was led by the junior duo of Nicky Daniel and Kayla Lane. Daniel led all scorers with 18 points to go with five rebounds. Lane pumped in 16 points and five assists. Sophomore Aubrey Beckham had a double double with 15 points and 10 boards while fellow sophomore Camryn Register had 13 points and three assists. Sophomore Kerra Butler had nine points and five steals as junior Amiya Porter put up nine points and four assists. Sophomore Mia James added five assists and five boards for the Lions who improve to 16-0 overall 3-0 in region. Hebron will next travel to Franklin County (6-12. 0-3) in a battle of Lions. Tipoff is Friday at 7:00 PM.

Hebron tears Hart out of Bulldogs 75-39

Hebron won its home region opener tonight completely dominating Hart County 75-39 in front of a packed house at Lions Arena. The Lions put up 50 in the first half as the team was in sync from the opening tip. They made Hart work extremely hard for every inch up the floor upon inbounds. The outcome was never in doubt as the Lions displayed some of their best basketball of the year as they hit midseason. All Hebron players saw playing time in this one with four players scoring in double figures led by Kerra Butler who scored 19 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Mia James had 13 points, five rebounds and five assists while Aubrey Beckham also scored 13 points to go with six steals, five assists and four boards. Amiya Porter and Nicky Daniel scored seven points apiece while Porter also had five assists and three steals. Jayden Watts added six points and two steals for Hebron who improves to 15-0, 2-0 in region 8-AAA. Hart County falls to 11-6, 1-1. The Lions next face Monroe Area (8-7, 1-1) as region play continues. Tipoff is 6:00 PM on Tuesday at Lions Arena.
