The Lions were too much for visiting Providence tonight as they rolled to a 91-22 region win n Lions Arena. For the second time this week, a Hebron player scored her 1000th career point. Junior Nicole Azar accomplished that feat this evening following fellow junior Malia Fisher who scored her 1000th point on Tuesday. Azar led Hebron in scoring with 24 points including five three-pointers. She also dished five assists. Fisher put up a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and also had six assists. Jessie Parish narrowly missed a double-double with 15 points, nine steals and seven boards. Carly Heidger was the fourth Lady Lion to score in double figures as she added 10 points. Carly Fahey led the team in assists with eight to go with eight points. Ella Heard and Riley Warbington chipped in six points apiece. With the win, Hebron ups its record to 20-0 overall, 4-0 in region. The region schedule continues as Towns County pays a visit to Lions arena on Tuesday. Tipoff is 6:00 PM. With a resounding 88-36 pummeling, Hebron avenged three losses to Prince Avenue from last season. The Lions came out on fire and never looked back, building leads of 31-7 at the end of the first quarter and 66-21 at halftime. The third and fourth quarters were shortened to six minutes each. Hebron dominated all facets of the game and scored equally from inside and out. The team connected on 14 three-pointers on 50% shooting from behind the arc. Nicole Azar had nine of those threes on 60% shooting from long range going 9-for-15. She led the team in scoring with 33 points to go with five assists and three steals. Malia Fisher, fresh off scoring her 1000th career point on Tuesday night, added to that total putting up 20 points. She also led the team in rebounds with eight and had six assists, three steals and three blocked shots. Jessie Parish had 11 points, four rebounds, three steals and a block while Carly Heidger put up nine points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Ella Heard scored nine points on perfect 3-for-3 shooting form behind the arc. She also had three assists. Floor general Carly Fahey led the team with a whopping 10 assists to go with four points, three boards and two steals. Fahey also reached the 250 career assist milestone tonight. Riley Warbington added two points, five rebounds and a steal for the Lions. With the win, Hebron improves to 19-0 overall, 3-0 in region action. They will next face Providence tomorrow afternoon. Tipoff is 3:30 PM at Hebron.

The Lions posted a big 72-14 road win over Athens Christian tonight in a game where everyone saw plenty of playing time. The biggest highlight of the game was Hebron junior Malia Fisher scoring the 1000th point of her high school career. Fisher was co-leader in points with 16 to go with five rebounds, four assists and three steals . Nicole Azar also had 16 points and led the team in assists and steals with five apiece. She also had three boards. Carly Heidger had nine points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals while Carly Fahey put up seven points, five boards, four steals and two assists. . Anniston Bainey and Ailee Semple added seven and five points respectively. Hebron improves it’s record to 18-0 overall, 2-0 in region action with the win. They will next face Prince Avenue as region play continues. Tipoff is Friday night at 6:30 PM as the Lions will play their first home game in nearly a month. Hebron travelled up I-85 Saturday night and pounded Commerce 85-37 to post its first region win of the season. The host Tigers had no answer for Hebron’s press as the Lions held raced to a 31-4 lead late in the first quarter. Commerce was able to get some points on the board after Hebron came out of its press but the damage was too great and the Lions coasted to the 48-point win. Nicole Azar had a good night in the stat sheet as she led Hebron in scoring, assists and steals. She put up 26 points including six three-pointers, had five steals and four assists for the No. 2 ranked Lions. Carly Heidger had a solid night scoring 17 points while pulling down seven rebounds and had three steals. Malia Fisher put up 15 points and grabbed eight boards while Carly Fahey had eight points and eight rebounds. With the win, Hebron improves to 17-0 on the season, 1-0 in region play. Commerce falls to 10-5, 1-1. Hebron’s remaining schedule consists entirely of region opponents. Up next, a trip to Athens to take on Athens Christian. Tipoff is 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 7. image

Fresh off their Christmas tournament championship in Orlando over the No. 4 ranked team in Florida’s Class AAAA, the Lions took on the No. 2 ranked AAAA team in North Carolina. Hebron posted a 51-48 win over Northwest Guilford Friday night in the She Got Game Classic at Wheeler High School in Marietta. Hebron faced a team with the tallest front court they’ve seen this season featuring two players who were 6’6 and 6’3 respectively. This presented challenges in the middle as they caused altered shots and were able to grab many rebounds Hebron’s bigs usually confiscate. Nevertheless, the Lions built a 29-20 lead at halftime and led by 10 going into the fourth quarter. Hebron maintained a comfortable lead throughout the game. NW Guilford made things interesting late in the game cutting the Hebron lead from nine to just three and even had a chance to tie the game with 3.2 seconds remaining. The Vikings had possession under their basket, inbounded the ball to the corner, but Hebron defended the inbound play so well, NW Guilford wasn’t able to get a shot off. Game over. It was a very physical contest and Hebron as a collective, were far from their best. But the W was secured against a tough out-of-state opponent. Malia Fisher led the Lions scoring effort with 12 points to go with seven rebounds. Nicole Azar had 11 points and five rebounds. Ella Heard put up nine points connecting three times from behind the arc. Carly Fahey added seven points, six assists and five rebounds for Hebron while Jessie Parish had five points and a game high 10 boards. With the win, the Lions improve to 16-0 on the season while NW Guilford falls to 11-2. Hebron opens region play tomorrow night as they’ll travel up I-85 to take on Commerce (10-4, 1-0).
