Franklin County traveled to Hebron tonight and were handed an 89-16 loss in front of a capacity crowd. Mia James caught fire early scoring the Lions first eight points on the way to a game high 20. She also dished three assists. In addition to James’ 20 points, five other Lions scored in double figures tonight. Kerra Butler had 13 points and seven rebounds while Aubrey Beckham scored 12 points and had six assists. Danielle Osho put up 11 points and five boards while Nicky Daniel had 11 points while dropping three threes. Camryn Register added 10 points and four steals for Hebron who improves to 17-2 overall, 4-0 in region play. Hebron will next face Stephens County in another region game. Tipoff is 6:00 PM Tuesday at Hebron.

Porter leads Lions past Monroe Area

The Hebron girls picked up their third region win of the season with a 72-9 road win over Monroe Area. Amiya Porter led the Hebron scoring effort with 12 points, knocking down four threes. Danielle Osho scored 11 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Jayden Watts put up 10 points while Mia James scored eight points and dished four assists. Kerra Butler added eight points and five boards while Alanna Beckham had a team high five assists and four rebounds. The Lions are now 16-2 overall, 3-0 in region play. They’ll take on Franklin County (11-7, 2-1). Tipoff is 6:00 PM Friday at Hebron.

The Class AAA No. 1 Hebron girls took on Class AAAA No. 3 Stockbridge this afternoon in the MLK Jr. Classic at Whitefield Academy and came away with a dominant 82-36 victory. The event featured some top teams from Georgia and nationally which attracted many coaches from universities across the country including Georgia Tech, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, Arizona State, Alabama, Central Florida, Mercer and Boston College to name a few. Although still a little sloppy per Hebron standards, to the layman, the Lions were impressive with their offensive numbers as well as the defensive effort which the talented Tigers had difficulty with all game. Nicky Daniel led the way for Hebron with a game high 17 points including knocking down five threes. Aubrey Beckham had 14 points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Lions while Kerra Butler had 10 points, six steals, four boards, and three blocks. Danielle Osho narrowly missed a double-double as she put up nine points, 11 rebounds and four steals. Aniya Moodie and Camryn Register were defensive pests as usual but also had some solid offensive numbers. Moodie scored nine points and had three assists while Register had eight points and four boards. Mia James had solid numbers as well scoring seven points while posting team highs in assists and steals with nine and eight respectively. The Lions return to region play tomorrow as they’ll travel to Monroe Area to take on the Purple Hurricanes. Tipoff is 6:00 PM.

Behind a suffocating defensive effort, No. 1 Hebron took down No. 7 Hart County, 70-32 in Hartwell tonight. Hart led 2-0 early but that was it. The Lions didn’t allow Hart many looks at the basket after that and took a 35-15 lead into halftime. Hebron outscored the Bulldogs 35-17 in an almost identical second half. Hebron’s defensive pressure took a toll on Hart County who had to work hard on each possession just to get a quality look at the basket. Hebron held Hart to its lowest point total of the season and 24 points below its 56 points per game average coming into tonight. Five Lions scored in double figures led by Danielle Osho who poured in 20 points to go with six rebounds. Aubrey Beckham had 13 points and seven assists while Nicky Daniel scored 12 points behind four three pointers, and also had two steals. Kerra Butler added 10 points, six boards and three blocks while Mia James put up 10 points and two assists. Hebron improves 14-2 overall, 2-0 in region play while Hart County falls to 11-5, 1-1. The Lions will next face Class AAAA No. 3 ranked Stockbridge (12-4) on Monday. Tipoff is 4:00 PM at Whitefield Academy.

The Hebron girls opened region play with a 67-29 win over Oconee County tonight at Lions Arena. The Lions built a 43-8 lead at the half and cruised from there. Kerra Butler posted a double=double with 17 points to go with 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Amiya Porter had 12 points and four steals while Aubrey Beckham put up eight points a team high 10 assists and five steals. Nicky Daniel added nine points as Mia James put up seven points and three assists. Danielle Osho had six points and 10 boards while Jayden Watts chipped in four points. Hebron ups its record to 13-2 overall, 1-0 in region with the win. The Class AAA No. 1 ranked Lions will next travel to Hartwell to take on No. 7 Hart County (10-4) in at battle between the top two teams in Region 8-AAA. Tipoff is 6:00 PM on Friday.
