Junior Kerra Butler scored the 1000th point of her career leading Hebron in an 80-22 win over South Gwinnett at the Parkview Tipoff Classic Monday at Parkview. Hebron continued its dominance over fellow Gwinnett County opponents with Butler leading the way scoring 13 points, while grabbing six rebounds, dishing four assists and recording four steals on her big night. Amiya Porter was Hebron’s leading scorer putting up 14 points to go with three assists. Nicky Daniel is the only other Lion to score in double figures as she put up 11 points and had three assists. Aubrey Beckham had nine points, and three steals for the Lions while Mia James scored eight points and had four assists. Camryn Register added seven points and three steals as Danielle Osho chipped in six points and five boards. Hebron is now 5-0 on the year while South Gwinnett drops to 2-2. The team will have a few days off to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and won’t return to action until Friday, December 1st. Class AAAA No. 5 ranked Trinity Christian (4-0) will travel from Sharpsburg to Dacula in a battle of ranked, undefeated Lions. Should be entertaining. Tipoff is 5:30 PM at Lions Arena.

The Hebron girls passed their first big test of the young season, ripping Class AAAAAAA No. 6 ranked McEachern 63-29 before a sizeable crowd, including many college coaches, at the Parkview Tipoff Classic Saturday afternoon. The Lions raced out to 22-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 35-15 at the half. Class AAA No. 1 ranked Hebron kept the pressure in the third quarter outscoring McEachern 19-9, building its lead to 54-24 heading into the shortened six-minute fourth quarter. Many Lions were instrumental in the win, none more than Aubrey Beckham who led the team in scoring, steals, and assists. She had 20 points, six steals and five assists and handled the physicality with which the Indians defended her, with poise. Danielle Osho had her best around game so far putting up 14 points, five rebounds and two steals. Kerra Butler posted her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Mia James added nine points, four assists and four steals while being a defensive pest for McEachern’s point guard throughout the game. Hebron is now 4-0 on the season and will next face South Gwinnett in its second and final contest of the Parkview Tipoff Classic. Game time is 3:30 PM on Monday at Parkview.

Hebron continued its journey through Gwinnett County opponents tonight and this time it was Duluth who was handed a loss. The Lions defeated the visiting Wildcats 77-20 at Lions Arena behind well balanced scoring. Kerra Butler was the only Lion in double figures as she scored 20 points to go with six rebounds. Jayden Watts and Aniya Moodie each scored nine points. Watts added two rebounds while Moodie added three assists and three boards. Nicky Daniel put up eight points for Hebron while Camryn Register had seven. A trio of Lions, Danielle Osho, Alanna Beckham and Amiya Porter, added six points apiece. Osho and Beckham also grabbed five rebounds each while Porter dished four assists and had two steals. Aubrey Beckham and Mia James chipped in four and two points respectively. Beckham added five assists, five steals and two boards while James also had five assists and three steals. Hebron improves to 3-0 on the year with the win. Up next, the Class AAA No. 1 ranked Lions will face their biggest challenge of the young season as they take on Class AAAAAAA No. 6 ranked McEachern in the Parkview Tipoff Classic on Saturday. Tipoff is 3:30 PM.

Lions throttle Discovery behind Porter's 19

The Hebron girls traveled to Lawrenceville tonight to take on the Discovery Titans and came away with an 89-22 win. Discovery, out of Region 7-AAAAAAA, did not have an answer for the deep and talented Lions. Amiya Porter led Hebron’s scoring effort with 19 points to go with four assists and four steals. Aubrey Beckham had 17 points, five assists and five steals while Kerra Butler scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds and had four steals. Danielle Osho added 10 points and a game high six boards as Mia James put up nine points and four steals. Camryn Register and Alanna Beckham chipped in five points apiece. Beckham also dished four assists. Hebron is now 2-0 on the season and will next face Duluth, also out of Region 7-AAAAAAA, on Thursday. Tipoff is 6:00 PM.

The reigning Class AAA state champion Hebron Lions won their season opener in dominating fashion posting an 85-26 pasting of Class AAAAAAA Parkview Saturday afternoon at Lions Arena. The Lions’ defense overwhelmed Parkview from the outset, forcing numerous turnovers which resulted in points on the offensive end. Hebron led 27-4 at the end of the first quarter and took a 50-15 lead into halftime. The visiting Panthers from Lilburn didn’t have any answers for the deep Hebron lineup. The Lions outscored Parkview 21-2 in the third period leading to a shortened, six-minute fourth. This team put up 85 yet only two players scored in double figures. That’s depth. Double-double machine Kerra Butler led Hebron in points and rebounds as she put up 18 and 10 respectively. Amiya Porter scored 14 points and was 3-for-5 from three-point range. Three Lions, Nicky Daniel, Mia James, and Danielle Osho, scored nine points apiece. Daniel also added a couple of rebounds while James had four steals, four assists and three boards. Osho, making her Hebron debut, added three rebounds and a block. Aubrey Beckham scored eight points and led the team in assists with five. She also had four rebounds and two steals. Jayden Watts had six points and two steals while Camryn Register added three points for the Lions. Aniya Moodie and Megan Kim chipped in two points apiece while two freshmen scored in their first varsity game tonight. Alyssa Craig hit a three pointer while Kai Williams had two points and a rebound for Hebron who is 1-0 on the season. On Tuesday, the team will head down the road to Lawrenceville to take on Discovery, out of Region 7-AAAAAAA. Tipoff is 5:30 PM.
