The Hebron girls are region champions again. The top seeded Lions downed No. 2 seed Oconee County 80-21 in the championship game of the 2024 Region 8-AAA tournament Friday night at Stephens County. Hebron was hitting on all cylinders and the game was never close. Kerra Butler posted another double-double leading the Lions in scoring with 18 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. Danielle Osho narrowly missed a double-double as she scored 17 points and had eight rebounds. Aubrey Beckham had a double-double as well scoring 15 points, dishing a game high 11 assists and had four steals. Mia James put up 10 points, four assists and four steals while Nicky Daniel had eight points and three steals. Amiya Porter chipped in six points for the Lions who improve to 25-2 on the season and a perfect 12-0 vs. region opponents. With the win, Hebron wins its second straight Region 8-AAA title and fourth region championship in the five seasons since Coach Azar’s arrival. Hebron now moves on to the state tournament as the No. 1 seed from 8-AAA. Opponent, date and game time to be announced.

Top seed Hebron had no trouble with fourth seed Franklin County posting a 98-18 win in the semifinals of the Region 8-AAA Tournament at Stephens County tonight. Five Hebron players scored in double figures led by Danielle Osho’s 22 points. She also had nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double, in addition to five assists. Region 8-AAA Player of the Year, Aubrey Beckham, scored 18 points and had five assists and five steals. Kerra Butler also scored 18 points to go with eight rebounds, five steals and three blocks. Mia James had 11 points, a game leading eight assists, and three steals while Alanna Beckham scored 10 points and had five boards. Amiya Porter added eight points and three assists for the Lions who improve to 24-2 on the season. Hebron will face No. 2 seed Oconee County in the region championship game on Friday. Oconee County was a 54-48 winner over third seed Hart County in its semifinal. Tipoff is 6:30 PM at Stephens County.

The Hebron girls wrapped up the regular season with an 81-23 win over Stephens County tonight in Toccoa. Danielle Osho led the Lions in scoring putting up 19 points to go with eight rebounds and five steals. She led the team in both points and rebounds. Mia James scored 16 points while dishing four assists. Kerra Butler dropped 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds while Aubrey Beckham scored 10 points and had game highs in assists and steals with eight and six respectively. Alanna Beckham added six points and three rebounds. Hebron completes the regular season with a 23-2 record and a perfect 10-0 against region opponents. Up next, the Region 8-AAA tournament hosted by Stephens County. The Lions will take to the court again next Wednesday, opponent and game time to be announced.
